Match Report
Stowe School Girls-U16A vs  Bishop's Stortford College
On: Thursday, 19 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

With a team mixture of the top U16 and U15 players Stowe went into the match unsure what to expect, having never played Bishop's Stortford before. The match started very lively straight from the off for the away side, putting Stowe under early pressure which was well kept at bay by Lizzie Knott, Megan Churchill and Ele Blaine. After the first period of pressure the match then swung to Stowe. The midfield began to flourish in its passing play which seemed to have a great level of understanding, despite only having had one training session together before the match. Bo Jenkins and Emily Sutton dominated the midfield, feeding the attack with strong passes. Clara Capella made an impact whenever she came on, her electric pace pulling Stowe up the pitch when they needed it.

In both halves them match ebbed and flowed with chances going to both teams, but with Stowe generally having the better run of play. In the last few second Stowe lost the ball on the halfway and Bishop's Stortford made a last attack and forced three quick saves from Alex Gridneva in goal. But the Stoics remained resolute and cleared the ball, meaning the match went to penalty flicks.

Bishop's Storftord's keeper did an amazing job, and managed to keep out all of Stowe's efforts and despite Alex Gridneva in the Stowe goal keeping out two of the flicks, Stowe lost 0 - 3.

Not a single player could possibly be faulted for their effort, with the U15s strengthening the U16s in every area. The work rate and intensity was plain to see in every player from start to finish. MVP went to Clara Tearle for her brilliant display in defence, always distributing the ball quickly after recovering the ball.
