Match Report
Stowe School Boys-U18A vs  Bloxham School
On: Wednesday, 22 Sep 2021
Venue: Away

The 1st XV finished off their first block of fixtures pre-Exeat with a hard-earned win at local neighbours Bloxham. Extensive experience of midweek fixtures has shown me that they're usually scrappy affairs and this match was no different as Stowe, at times, struggled to maintain composure and put structure on the game. The team's Achilles heel, namely struggling somewhat to retain possession, go through the phases, be patient and bring structure to the attack, was once again in evidence. That said, when the attack clicks then the team can be lethal. Will Plessis carried very hard from the base of the scrum and offered real 'go forward' whilst Teide Lopkibire and Euan Baker in midfield provided a cutting edge and step up in our back play. Plessis, Maxwell Macdonald and Baker all finished their tries with impressive power and footwork, with the icing on the cake being a well executed try for the brains trust at the front of the lineout with allowing Blunson Washbrook, fresh from counting blades of grass on the Biology Field Trip last weekend, barrelling over in the corner Several opportunities still went a begging but each week sees an improvement in performance level.
