Match report: County Tournament 11/10/21

What a day!

Stowe lacrosse’s U15A’s played absolutely fantastic throughout the whole day at the County Championships. We kick started the day with a convincing 3-1 win against St Albans High School- Emelia Brett scored all 3 and dominated the draw. Soon after we played St. Georges Harpenden and carried on the winning streak with a 4-2 victory. Bedford followed and we won this 5-1- Emelia got another Hat-trick, Ronnie and Maddie got a goal apiece.

Berkhampstead were the next opponents who were going to be the toughest opponents of the day. The girls took this in their stride and came away with a convincing 4-2 win. The highlight of this match is without a doubt Mila Ratcliff taking the ball from defence to the other end and scoring, while leaving the Berko defenders in her wake. This epitomises Mila’s work rate and effort throughout the day, she was relentless in tracking back and also being a constant threat in attack, her fitness was unparalleled, winning the MVP for the team.

Our final group stage game was against Abbots Hill which we won 5-2, meaning Stowe had reached the county final against Berko.

The girls did so well in the final and showed real spirit after going 2 nil down in the opening few moments, they brought it back to draw 4-4 which meant over time. Unfortunately, Berko gained possession of the draw and managed to scored the winner after taking the ball in from the end line.

It was an absolute pleasure coaching the girls at the tournament and it is going to be a very exciting lent term, when we have them training more often and have Nationals! Jayne and myself are extremely proud and can’t wait for the opportunity of taking them to Nationals!

A huge thank you also to al the parents who came along to support the girls!
