As the dust settled after the first week, the girls were keen to get going again. A very productive week with lots of learning and growth, put us in good stead for the weekend.
Another away fixture for the girls at Oakham. Being a full block fixture, it meant we were pushed for time. The girls jumped off the bus and went straight into their match. Claudia was announced as captain for the season. The game started well and the girls had much better shape than our previous fixture. A good standard of hockey was being played by both sides. We claimed the first penalty corner of the game. Claudia stepped up and slotted the straight strike. A great start by the girls. We went into half time with the scores drawn at 1-1. Kitty Howard stood in goal for the weekend (hopefully not last) and made some unreal saves! She received our MVP for the match as she saved us multiple times.
The match ended 4-1 to Oakham with 2 goals in the last 5 minutes. There were a few tired bodies which resulted in a few unnecessary errors, the girls really gave it their best go. A massive improvement from the previous game. The girls are improving every session. Looking forward to our next fixture!
