The girls came down to the astro early and were ready for a battle against Bromsgrove.
The match began evenly and as the match took shape Bromsgrove began to take a hold of possession, with Stowe still being firmly in the game. After a few near misses and penalty corners at each end Bromsgrove struck on the break with the ball going in the top of the goal, as a result of a lucky deflection off a Stowe foot. Stowe stayed resolute and kept themselves steady until half time where they were able to regroup.
At halftime with Stowe 1-0 down they were determined to battle for the ball and use the width more in attack. Two things they most assuredly did in the second half. The marking and defence was tighter, with strong defensive performances from the whole back line allowing the midfield and forwards to go and attack with purpose. The first goal came from good midfield play from Olivia Barratt, Charlotte Hemstock and Ella Mason, which led to Minnie Hutton taking the ball past two players and neatly finishing past the Bromsgrove goalkeeper in the bottom corner. Stowe were re-energised after they showed their improvements were causing Bromsgrove issues. With four minutes left on the clock Orla Massie threw an aerial that landed with Charlotte Hemstock in midfield, who worked well to find Minnie Hutton on the wing, who eliminated a player and drove the D, releasing the ball at the perfect time for Elsie Jacobs to finish through the goalkeeper's legs. With the game 2-1 Stowe faced a final barrage of penalty corner defence as Bromsgrove sought the equaliser, but couldn't provide anything to beat the strong Stowe defence, the game finished 2-1 to Stowe - a great second half performance and win!
MVP for the game was awarded to Minnie Hutton for her excellent all around play going forward and her crucial assist and goal!
