Match Report
Stowe School Girls-U16A vs  Oundle School
On: Saturday, 16 Nov 2024
Venue: Away

The girls arrived at Oundle in dreary conditions, but pitch 1 playing well in the primetime slot. Stowe started well and the game's first 5 minutes were very even. Stowe did well to connect through the pitch but were unable to find the killer edge. Oundle went ahead from a well taken penalty corner and Stowe were quickly back up the other end applying pressure and had a few short corners. Stowe allowed a few key players of Oundle's a bit too much time and space, and soon found themselves 0-3 down at half time.

Stowe emphasised the need to focus on winning the 50/50s in the second half and competed much more from the outset, making some great tackles. Ella Kingston again provided a great attacking threat and was crucial in assisting Elsie Jacobs goal around five minutes into the second half. Izzy Forster was a great enforcer in the midfield and key to putting Stowe on the front foot on multiple occasions. The second half was again very even, with Stowe unable to take a few good opportunities and Oundle reduced to a few counters, one of which was the goal that killed the game.

MVP was given to Minnie Hutton, although not on the scoresheet she was an excellent pressing and attacking threat throughout the game, setting the tone and pace for Stowe. Stowe now focus on their National Plate game on Tuesday v St Edwards.
