An exceptional start to the season form the Lions.
From the first scrum 10s into the game, Stowe were dominant up front forcing the turn over and Bear Hewlett beating 3 defenders to score out wide. Stamford regrouped and the first half was a physical encounter with neither side taking a backward step. Stamford lead 10-5 at half time after a well worked forwards try and a penalty kick.
The second half started almost identically with Bear Hewlett scoring a break away 70m interception try and beating the final man to make the game 10-12. Another physical 35 minutes was to follow with Stowe dominating the set piece, turning over scrums with the front row Calon Heaven, Talal Zahid (Captain), Sasha Whowell and Layth Elmrabti switch seamlessly and putting on extreme pressure at every opportunity. Tomisin Ibitoye also flying high in the line outs and disrupting Stafmord's set piece.
A successful penalty kick and a couple of drop goal attempts from Bear and Ed Mercer made for a suspenseful finale to the match with Stowe holding on and absorbing a final 10 minutes of extreme pressure and taking a well deserved win making it two from two for the season so far.
