Match report: 16/11/24 Heathfield tournament
Both of Stowe Lacrosse’s senior teams departed at 8am after a team breakfast to head to Heathfield school for a well ran tournament. The 1st team’s first game was against a strong St Albans High School (STAHS) in which we lost 7-0. This game was effectively a great warm up for the girls who got straight off the bus and had to play.
Thankfully we had a break after this game and spoke about what the aims are for the day and what we want to achieve offensively and defensively.
Next up were Haileybury who are becoming a fantastic rival and always results in a very close game. Stowe managed to edge this game 3-2 after an unbelievable defensive display from all of the midfield, defence and goalie.
Straight after this game Stowe played against hosts, Heathfield School. Stowe again showing resilience in defence with a scoreline of 1-1 at half time. Unfortunately Stowe ran out of steam in the 2nd half and lost the game 4-1.
The team performed incredibly well throughout the day and really pushed themselves having only 1 substitute. It is incredibly hard to single out individual performances which is why I left it up to the girls to decide and Tatiana Riviere was awarded team MVP after fantastic work in midfield, grabbing herself a goal, always being an option in transition and working hard in defence.
Stowe finished 3rd and have earned a well earned rest next weekend – enjoy exeat.
As usual, thank you to all friends and family that were on the sidelines!
Scores:
Stowe 0 – 7 STAHS
Stowe 3 – 2 Haileybury
Stowe 1 – 4 Heathfield
