Match Report
Stowe School Boys-U15A vs  Oakham School
On: Saturday, 14 Sep 2024
Venue: at Home

A huge confidence building victory for the JCA side, with a 52-0 whitewash of rivals Oakham. Following a focused warm up, the Stoics showed their intent right from the kick off when James Gorton caught the kick off and ran hard, Harry Wilson followed suit and made big yardage through the heart of the opposition defence up to their 22m line. The ball was recycled quickly and cleanly allowing David Richards to pick and go to find a gap to score. A dream start!

Almost immediately, second row, Nathan Goje picked up blind, showing great acceleration and aggression to get away and through want to be tacklers to score from 40m out, with a fantastic solo effort.

It was none stop from the Stowe boys, who really had their 'tails up' now! From 1 to 15 everyone was doing their job, and doing it well.

The next score came from a pre planned lineout move on the half way, when Bas Palmer was fed the ball off the top of the lineout back into the narrow side channel. He made great progress up the pitch with great pace, tackled just short of the line, a team mate was on hand to finish the job.

The second half brought much of the same intensity and desire. Pressure was built from the kick off, attacking from a scrum near the opponent 22m gave a fantastic attacking platform which the backline used to perfection. Accurate and swift hands saw the balls move down the line into space, allowing Cam Irving to make the initial break, who then released Ogwe Ng'ong'a to show speed and power to score.

This performance really sets the bar high for this team. Well played everyone involved!

Now they look to back it up with a similar team performance against Solihull School on Saturday 21st Sept.
