After a crazy first week, the girls open section is looking full of high class hockey players. Having more than 60 girls in the age group is amazing for the depth of girls hockey at Stowe.
The 3rd XI girls made a short drive up to Winchester House School to play Buckingham ladies 3rd XI. The girls were keen but without a midweek practice, we lacked communication. New faces in the team made it slow to get started and understand each other games. All the girls had a good amount of game time due to Buckingham only having 9 players. Being a friendly game, it was all about game time and time on the feet.
Standout performers were Olive de Courcy-Ireland and Charlotte Hopkins. Olive made some great runs through their defence. Sending a few rockets towards their goal. Charlotte held things down in the centre of the park. Working back and giving ball forward.
Final score 3-2 loss.
Lots of positives and so much potential. Training this week will put the girls in good stead for this weekend game.
