Match Report
Stowe School Girls-U16A vs  Tudor Hall School Girls-U18A
On: Wednesday, 02 Oct 2024
Venue: Away

The Stowe girls were out of lessons promptly and had left site by 3:10, ready for a proper midweek battle in some favourable conditions!

Stowe arrived and as they stepped on pitch, immediately switched in to game focus. The match started well with both teams having good moments and Stowe managing to slice Tudor Hall open with their slick passing. Stowe continued to be resolute and strong in defence, and having some great moments going forward. The game reached half time with honours even 0-0 but the game very much anyone's to take if they wanted it enough.

Stowe came out in the second half looking just as astute in defence, applying pressure to intimidate Tudor Hall's defence and passing the ball well up the pitch. Unfortunately an injury to Ella Mason halted play for a small while as she received treatment from Tudor Hall's speedy staff. Stowe organised themselves then without a coach as Mr B-B had to take Ella M to A&E and Miss Noble was needed to umpire, but one of the last bits of play Mr B-B saw was Stowe conceding an unfortunate goal from a tight angle. The news then came through as Mr B-B and Ella M reached A&E that Olive McDougall had scored to equalise for Stowe in the last few minutes! A very well deserved result, but more importantly an excellent performance from every player.

The girls were all a massive credit to themselves, their teammates and the school; as they continued to play excellent hockey and work incredibly hard for each other against Tudor Hall's 1st XI. An excellent day out for the girls (with exception of one bonked nose), and a day for Stowe to be really pleased with the progress they are showing.

The coaches' MVP was Olivia Barratt and Ella Mason's MVP from A&E was Ella Kingston. Well done to both for excellent performances! Stowe now look forward to their first home Saturday of the season against Rugby School.
