BROMSGROVE 50 - 5 STOWE

The Yearling B's toughest test to date - Bromsgrove.

After a swift departure and a thorough warm up the boys embarked on a tough afternoon. Bromsgrove were a well drilled side who were extremely quick to the breakdown. This really tested our resilience in defence as this is how we spent most of the game. Every single one of our players put in some strong tackles, particularly Rudy Sturridge, Harry Timmis, Jaypaul Sehmi, Finn Murphy, Ralph Barkes and our captain Jolyon Tew. Even after coming into half time under a heavy score line the boys persevered and pushed back against Bromsgrove, even scoring a try as we settled into the second half. Well done Rudy Sturridge for setting it up, and Ralph Barkes for finding a small whole to dive through!

To add to our troubles, Finn Murphy (our fly half) and Harry Timmis (scrum half) were called up to play for the A's. I thought that Thomas Wilson and Lucas Green adapted well to play in some new positions. We also struggled with some injuries meaning we had to drop down to 14 men, but the boys kept going.

My highlight of the day was, after the final try for Bromsgrove the boys knew it was the last play, and instead of giving up they decided to charge down the kicker, who ended up missing the conversion! Additionally, after the game the lads collectively felt as though if they played them again things would be different. The resilience they showed today was of great merit.

The result did not reflect the effort or quality of the teams performance today, and they did themselves very proud.

Best,
Will
