Match Report
Stowe School 1st XI Girls vs  Solihull School
On: Wednesday, 09 Oct 2024
Venue: Away

A good start from the Stowe girls away to Solihull as they had all the pressure in the opening minutes only to get undone by Solihull's first attack. A swift counter ended with Solihull winning a stroke which was converted for 1-0.

The game was very even but it was the home team again that made the next breakthrough. Stowe turned the ball over in their own D and outmuscles the Stowe defence to go 2-0 up half time.

Stowe rallied after HT led by captain Ari Hay. Stowe scored a slick penalty corner involved Capella, Colling e and Hay - Hay finishing from close range. Stowe equalised a few minutes later as Hay pounced on a loose ball and finished smartly with her backhand.

The pressure was all Stowe and they looked like the most likely team to win the game but another cheap turnover allowed Solihull to counter and they put themselves 3-2 up.

Stowe through everything at the home side, winning penalty corners and having numerous D breaks but couldn't level up.

A much better performance from girls compared to last Friday and we hope to be able to lift ourselves again for the visit of Bromsgrove on Friday.
