Match Report
Stowe School Girls-U14B vs  The Royal Latin School Girls-U13A
On: Monday, 30 Sep 2024
Venue: at Home

A match immediately after the exeat, against an A team, playing 7 per side was always likely to be a banana peel. Sure enough, the Royal Latin girls had two players who were given too much space and with the score at 2-2 at the break, Stowe found themselves in a fight to come away with the win.

Taryn Cox played easily her best game in goal. Numerous times the RL girls got to a 1-1 with Taryn (by virtue of only being allowed two defenders!) but each time Taryn prevailed. Her work in close was particularly impressive. So too was in the increase in talk from the team, with Katie, Tash and Ruby showing signs of the kind of energy and communication we are searching for.

Willow again found herself in the thick of things up forward – the result of brilliant positioning and a team that is beginning to trust each other to run to the right places.

The game never looked won until the final whistle. For a tricky fixture, we can be proud of the girls, because they rose to the challenge and saw it off.

But bigger fish remain. Rugby this Saturday in our first away match. What a great test this will be.
